Chocolate Phone Series was officially unwrapped and strutted down the catwalk by models wearing Montreal couture label SHAN’s 2007 swimwear and lingerie collection in a sexy runway show.

According to the survey conducted by LG and Ipsos-Reid Canada (October 4-10, 2006), nearly half (47 per cent) of Canadians polled between the ages of 18 and 35 already agree that a cell phone should be stylish.

George Bernard Shaw

Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months. Oscar Wilde

You cannot be both fashionable and first-rate. Logan Pearsall Smith

Fashion is what you adopt when you don't know who you are. Quentin Crisp

Fashion is made to become unfashionable. Coco Chanel

Fashion is the science of appearances, and it inspires one with the desire to seem rather than to be. Montaigne

I never cared for fashion much, amusing little seams and witty little pleats: it was the girls I liked. David Bailey

The pursuit of Fashion is the attempt of the middle class to co-opt tragedy. In adopting the clothing, speech, and personal habits of those in straitened, dangerous, or pitiful circumstances, the middle class seeks to have what it feels to be the exigent and nonequivocal experiences had by those it emulates. David Mamet

Fashion is born by small facts, trends, or even politics, never by trying to make little pleats and furbelows, by trinkets, by clothes easy to copy, or by the shortening or lengthening of a skirt. Elsa Schiaparelli

In difficult times fashion is always outrageous. Elsa Schiaparelli

The star makes Harper's Bazaar's best-dressed list and appears on the cover of the magazine's December (07) issue, but she insists she would rather stay at home than dress up to go out. Lopez shares her favourite looks of the moment with the publication, which include hats and head wraps reminiscent of AUDREY HEPBURN. The WAITING FOR TONIGHT singer has deliberately toned down her look from the days where she appeared in slashed-down-to-her-navel dresses and now prefers "clothes that are closed up to the neck with bows."

Lopez, who designs her own fashion range called Sweetface insists she is "not into 'sexy, sexy,'" and also claims she's not into attending events just to show off her great sense of style. She adds, "That going-out-and-being-glam thing gets old fast. People keep saying to me, 'You're not out there anymore.' "And I say, 'That's because I don't want to be!'"

Marc Jacobs spans three shops there, Marni is just down the street, and now Venezuelan couture queen Carolina Herrera has joined the flock, with a new boutique that opened Monday night with a chic fete.

Herrera greeted familiar faces including Brittany Murphy, Lauren Graham, Gabrielle Union, Ginnifer Goodwin, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Angie Harmon - all dressed in her signature designs, of course - then explained why Melrose Place is the spot for her first California shop.
"I was always in love with this street and with this place. When I used to come by, I always said, 'whenever I open something in Los Angeles, it has to be here.' And I love this building, because it has two entrances. I have the front, and also the back entrance, which is the parking lot. I think in Los Angeles that is very important to have that," the diminutive designer explained proudly.

Having a back entrance where Hollywood types can enter unobtrusively is definitely a plus for any shop that sells $10,000 gowns, $25,000 furs, and assorted other items (including her signature New York collection, bridal, and sunglasses, as well as Manolo Blahnik shoes, Judith Leiber bags, and Faraone Mennella accessories). But having another high-end place to spend money in LA-LA is also a dangerous thing, as actress Rebecca Gayheart pointed out with a giggle.

"It's a good thing and a bad thing, the opening of this beautiful boutique. It's good because we have a great place to shop, and it's a bad thing because we have a great place to shop! Her clothes are beautiful, but expensive. It's too easy to spend all your money here," she laughed.

"Her clothes are so feminine and romantic, and she really knows the female body. And the fabrics are gorgeous," Gayheart added. "The dress I'm wearing I'm in love with. It is cotton and linen and it has all this amazing pleating. It's so comfortable and beautiful. I just love it."

Missing from the night's festivities was Reese Witherspoon, who was scheduled to co-host the party. However, her love of Herrera's designs wasn't enough to get her to leave the house and face a red carpet full of reporters so soon after her split from hubby Ryan Phillippe.
